Success adds up for maths students

Sixth formers excel in national competition

Last term 44 students from Years 12 and 13 took part in the Senior Mathematics Challenge run by the UK Mathematics Trust.

This is a prestigious national competition which takes place every year in the Autumn term. The results were very pleasing with a number of students obtaining bronze, silver and gold certificates.

Most notable were the results obtained by Oliver Harrison (13GEJD), who achieved a gold certificate and the Best in School, along with George Smith (13HDWM) and Wojciech Such (12BRNF) who also achieved gold certificates, placing them in the top five per cent of all entries.

These three students were also further invited to take part in the Senior Kangaroo: a national competition which is invite-only for students within the top two per cent of entries. All three again did well and received further certificates for their participation and achievement in the event.
