This year, our first cohort of Sixth Form Prefects took up their roles in school in Term 6. They were selected by the Headmaster and the Director of Sixth Form Studies to play an integral role in the day-to-day running of the school.
Having shown a dedication to their studies and to the school, the successful applicants distinguish themselves for a level of maturity that allows them to act as student leaders with real responsibilities and duties.
They are role models for their peers and younger students, acting in a way that other students should aspire to and working with staff and pupils to promote a disciplined, polite and friendly atmosphere in and around all areas of the school.
Training for the role was carried out by police personnel and included role-plays, team-building and activities designed to help understand their own strengths and limitations, know how to communicate confidently and understand the concept of assertiveness.
As such, it equipped students with key skills and experiences in leadership, in preparation for their Post-18 future.
