A roaring sucess for Lions sponsored swim

'Team SGS' raise £400 for Spalding Lions and the PFA

Tuesday saw the annual Spalding Lions Sponsored Swim, an event the local charitable organisation run each year.

We were honoured to be invited this year and I was able to assembly a 'Team SGS' of eight students.  These students worked superbly in a short space of time to collect sponsors and attend the event.  They each swam their maximum of 20 mins with commendable effort - as many of the boys had received sponsors per length so were trying to squeeze every penny out of their performance.

A fantastic total of around £400 was raised between the eight students.  The money was split 50/50 between Spalding Lions and the SGS Parents and Friends Association (PFA), the latter of which reinvest 100% of the money they raise back into school projects to support our student's education.

Spalding Lions were extremely appreciative of the school's support at the event, and have pledged to support us in the future with projects that will benefit our students too.

The eight super swimmers were:

Aneurin Simpson (Y8)

Bailey Jackson (Y8)

Pedro Marques (Y7)

James Ledwidge (Y7)

Alfie Brooks (Y8)

Nitesh Anbazhagan (Y7)

Joshua Haines (Y8)

Daniel Mulley (Y7)

They will be presented with their completion certificates in whole school assembly on Monday.

A huge well done and thank you to all of the students for their participation, and for the support shown from parents for collecting sponsors and cheering on their sons!

We hope to participate in the event next year and bring a bigger team of swimmers to raise even more funds for the school and local causes.
