Sociology: Key Stage 5

Sociology teaches students to explore the social world, reflecting on ethics, politics, trends, and government policies. Students will learn about the debates going on concerning power, poverty, freedom, and upbringing. 

The OCR Sociology specification is the most up-to-date and relevant course, covering Youth Subcultures as well as Inequality, the Digital Revolution, and Crime & Deviance. The novelty of these topics means there is less material online for this course, but the Head of Department has published study guides and these are available for free to students in PDF format as well as video lectures on the Sociology Robot YouTube channel; in addition, hardback study guides are used in class. The ‘official’ OCR textbooks are also used to supplement your reading.
