Music: Key Stage 5

We will encourage musicality, creativity with originality, and celebrating the unique talents of every musician.
How do we inspire and challenge our students?

Musicality, creativity with originality, and celebrating the unique talents of every musician.

In collaboration with the High School, our A Level Music students are inspired by a varied curriculum.

How do we enrich learning?

There are many opportunities for enrichment in our 6th form and the music department often looks to our sixth form musicians to play a lead role in our music department enrichment activities. We encourage all our sixth form musicians to take part in our various enrichment ensembles including choir, concert band, soul band and the school musical. But more importantly, our sixth form musicians have also taken charge of enrichment groups such as the brass ensemble and ukulele group. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance UCAS applications and the department always encourages and welcomes adding new enrichment groups suggested and run by sixth formers. Our sixth formers play an essential part in our department performances such as our 3 concerts held throughout the year, school events such as the Carol Service, Charter Day and Speech Day, the school musical and various other events open to the public such as Open Evenings. Our sixth form musicians play an essential part in the promotion of the department, and we work together with them to provide different and varied opportunities for them to expand and enhance their musical skills.
