PROGRESS REVIEWS – GUIDANCE FOR PARENTS

Your son or daughter’s progress is of paramount importance to both us in School and you at home. In order to ensure clarity and a ‘joined up’ approach, we work hard to keep you informed and involved in your son/daughter’s progress.

A strategy we have developed is ‘Progress Reviews’. We pride ourselves on regular student support through regular informal discussions with staff, Form Tutors and other students. The Progress Review formalises these discussions and takes place every time students receive grades or a profile. The process has four stages:

  1. Student recording and reflecting – the student writes their attainment and effort grades into their planner and begins considering strengths/weaknesses
  2. Progress discussion – the student discusses their thoughts with their Form Tutor, who offers appropriate guidance
  3. Next steps – students set targets for the time period ahead
  4. Parental engagement – parents then discuss this process with students, and should then comment and sign

We have dedicated specialist pages in your son/daughter’s planner (purple pages – from page 37) for these discussions to be recorded and signed.
