Gatsby Benchmark 5 – Encounters with Employees

Throughout the student’s time at SGS we provide a good number of opportunities for businesses and employers to interact with students. Examples of these are, but not limited to, year group assemblies / workshops, Post 18 Careers Carousel, Whole School Careers Fair, Small group workshops for students with specific career interests, Visiting Employers.

 

 

Gatsby Benchmark 6 – Experience of workplaces.

Students should have the opportunity to have meaningful work experience; the government are encouraging schools to provide employment opportunities for 50 hours during each key stage of a student’s school journey. This could include school trips to places of employment, employer projects, in person placements, virtual placements and visits to employers.

Y8 – Luke & Laura from the National Farmers Union

Y9- Navy talk and workshop, CSE talk from the Police

Y10- Talk from a BA Pilot & a one week work experience placement.

Y11- Talk from a BA Pilot.

Y12- Creative Careers Conference /Post 18 options carousel & a one week work experience placement.

Y13- Alumni talk from a Doctor, Business Manager and a Sports Teacher and a workshop from Worldwide Fruit
