"Spalding Grammar was the cornerstone that provided me the self-belief I needed to achieve any successes I have enjoyed"
I was a pupil at Spalding Grammar from 1987 to 1994.
Having left with four A Levels, I took up a place at Hull University to study Management Science including one year studying International Business at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona.
After graduation I joined PriceWaterhouseCoopers Management Consultancy on their graduate program in London, which provided an opportunity to gain valuable experience and skills in the IT consultancy arena. My career took me from London to working extensively in Chicago, Sydney and Switzerland before finding myself back in the UK.
In recent years my wife and I have moved back to Stamford to raise our two children. I presently work as a freelance IT Program Manager and have spent the last three years helping HMRC build the IT capability for their Making Tax Digital for VAT program.
My time at Spalding Grammar was rich with positive experiences. Although a fairly bright boy, my academic results were mid-tier. However, Spalding Grammar gave me much, much more.
I participated in drama and played the violin through the county music program as well as bass in a rock band with friends. I was a member of Bronze, Silver and Gold DofE Expeditions and played rugby and occasional hockey. Today one of the most cherished memories I hold is playing for the school 1st XV with my best friends, many of which have remained close friends.
Attending Spalding Grammar helped me develop as an individual and through the many opportunities it also taught me the fundamentals of being a strong team member and how to develop leadership skills within a team. It remains a special time in my life and provides me with the fondest of memories.
Spalding Grammar was the cornerstone that provided me the self-belief I needed to achieve any successes I have enjoyed in life as well as the source of where I built the resiliences needed to overcome disappointments.
