UCAS

What is UCAS?

The UCAS process is the central system for applying to universities in the UK. Students create an account on the UCAS Hub, enter their personal and educational details, and choose up to five courses. They also write a personal statement and obtain a school reference, both of which support their application.

Most applications are due in late January, with earlier deadlines in October for courses such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, and for Oxford and Cambridge. Once the application is submitted, universities review it and may make conditional or unconditional offers. If students do not receive offers, or do not meet the conditions on results day, they can use UCAS Clearing to find available places. The process provides a single, organised route for managing applications with support from school staff throughout.
