Life in the Sixth Form

During your time in the Sixth Form, you will have excellent opportunities to extend your social circles. The girls that choose to study at SGS are instantly made to feel welcome, integrate with ease and soon become part of the SGS community, including taking up Senior positions in their Houses and Senior Student life.

There is a designated Sixth Form Coffee Shop and Coffee Lounge area, with sofas and chairs. It is an ideal place to meet up after lessons and spend time socialising in free time. There is free Wi-Fi access and in-house freshly prepared coffee shop style food available.

There will be many opportunities to get involved in whole school life, but also to become part of the close family which is SGS Sixth Form. Opportunities may include helping in the planning of the White Ball and the Leavers' Ball, working back stage for School Productions, being part of the Bentleian School Magazine publishing team, organising parties for senior citizens or joining one of the very many clubs or sports teams. The opportunities are endless.

Sixth Form Leavers hold a Black Tie Ball, organised by the Senior Student Team. This is a great event and all students take great delight in dressing up and sharing fond school memories with friends.

If being creative is your field, there is the chance to be involved in the Bentleian Team, responsible for publishing the School Magazine and producing content throughout the year. We are always enthusiastic for keen photographers to borrow the school cameras. The Marketing and Promotions team is an excellent way to meet new friends and be part of promoting SGS internally and externally. Last year the MAP team helped the local Foodbank 'AGAPE' and wrapped Christmas presents. We also donated food parcels.

For sporting students there are plenty of opportunities to be involved in, including Senior Sports teams in Rugby, Hockey, Basketball, Football and Cricket, to name a few. At the end of the Season, there is a Black Tie Senior Sports Awards Dinner, to which guests from other schools are also invited.

There are many leadership opportunities at SGS. Our Prefects play an integral role in the day to day running of the school. As part of Enrichment, the Sports Leaders is a recognised qualification, designed to use sport and physical activity to help develop their leadership skills. There is also the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, consisting of expeditions, volunteering, skill, physical and residential elements. Awards have been presented at Buckingham Palace.
